So funny story eh....

I GET TO STAY IN BANFF! Hahaha, transfers came and we all thought I was going to leave. I collected peoples contact info, took pictures, even started to pack. And......no transfer for me ha, they took Sister Murphy out instead. TOTAL curveball for everyone. Ha when I saw people at church on Sunday they almost fell over. My new companions name is......SISTER MATHESON!  Ha she just came from Invermere, BC, I was JUST on exchanges with her this week! And now we're companions, hahaha. We were so excited!!! Good things will come from this!

I had such an amazing, miracle filled week! I don't even know if I can put it all into words! Alright here we go! 

Tuesday! 

Tuesday we were in Calgary for District Meeting! BUT before District Meeting, Elder Hill signed us all up to help clean the Calgary Temple!!! It was SO FUN. Ha I mean cleanings so exciting I know but ha when you clean the temple you don't even care! Ha its just so comforting to be inside those walls. Such a peace. Afterwards we all went and grabbed a bite to eat at Costa Vida then went and had District Meeting. :)

Tuesday night I also had what I thought was my LAST dinner with the Barkers here in Canmore and I was so sad! It was like saying good bye to my own grandparents, I even had them take a picture with me. :) Boy were they surprised to see me again! haha, Bro. Barker asked me if I had a different pair of socks for everyday, to which I replied, just about :) #America

Wednesday was the day that transfer notices went out and I was SO NERVOUS. We didn't know what was going to happen. Then they came and Elder Fraser got on and said, "Well, Sister Connor you're being transferred to Banff, Sister Murphy you're leaving pack your bags" Both of us just looked at eachother wide eyed and said "WHAT?!" I was so happy though, I didn't want to leave! I love it here too much. So we packed up Sister Murphy's bags, had dinner with the Dupres then drove into Calgary. We got to meet some of the new sisters that came out and that are being trained in our Stake. There's one from La$ Vega$, :) , and one named Sister CONNORS. I was like oh boy, this is going to be so confusing. Good thing there's only two of us for 6 weeks ha. 

Thursday was transfer day and probably one of the greatest days of my life. MIRACLES ARE REAL. Since Sister Murphy was just transferred to Calgary and my companion was coming from the south, they assigned me to be with Sister Hassan, a sister going home for the day until my companion came. Well, my area is too far away to go to and she didn't have an area. So what did we do? Decided to go Downtown Street Contacting in Calgary! :) This is what it looks like from the sky ha. 

We drove to the car park and decided that we were going to give out 40 copies of the Book of Mormon in a few hours. Small problem, we only had about 20 in our car. :( So we called Sister Egbert and her new companion and asked them to bring us a box :) Each of us shoved about 20 in our bags, zipped up our coats, started our hand warmers and were about to leave but as I was about to put the extra copies from the box in our trunk I thought to my self, why stop at 40? I picked up the box and tucked it under my arm and took it to the Station. Ha in total we had 52 copies of the Book of Mormon in our possession, and boy can I tell you our bags were heavy. But we decided we were going to get rid of ALL of them, no matter what. We wanted to get on the train with empty bags. We got off the train after already handing out 1 and said a prayer and told Heavenly Father what we were planning to do, then hit the ground running, almost literally ha. And we talked to EVERYONE that crossed us, no matter who they were. We worked our butts off, I looked like a street vendor with my box. We took a pen and wrote "FREE" on the side. :)  And one by one, the books started to disappear out of the box, then we'd load more out of our bags, and they would disappear again. This process kept repeating until we looked down at our box AND THERE WERE NONE LEFT. We gave out 52 COPIES of the Book of Mormon in 2.5 hours. That's IMPOSSIBLE. But, nothing is impossible with God's help. It felt AMAZING. We were in utter disbelief as we drove back to transfers. Strengthened my faith SO MUCH, this work is real and nothing is impossible. We can help with miracles, if we have the faith Heavenly Father will place those prepared in our path. And that day it was 52.
  

I got Sister Matheson and then drove back to Banff! ha the whole drive pretty much went like this. "Dude! I can't believe it! I'm so excited!" "I know me toooooo! This is going to be so great!"......................AND REPEAT for an hour hahah. We're stoked. 

This weekend we sat down and set some goals for the area. After that experience with Sister Hassan, I know that we can accomplish ANYTHING. So we decided what we thought was possible then asked for Heavenly Fathers help in receiving revelation to make a plan. And boy did we plan, right down to the very hour of every day this transfer, we know what we need to do to make our goals happen. I love Matheson!! We get along and work together SO WELL. :) I'm so excited for this next transfer. 

The church is true! I know this with all my heart. I know the Book of Mormon is true! I know its the word of God. I invite YOU to read it, and to pray about it. God will tell you yay or nay, don't take my word for it, find out for yourself :)

Whoa alright sooooo, totally sorry that I didn't update or email for the longest time. For whatever reason I decided to take a break. But DONT PANIC I'm back now.

This week was great! Ha busy as always but busy is good, right? Heck yeah, especially for a missionary. We had a lot of exciting events this week.

Last Sunday our friend Shirley came to church with us! She came to hear Murphy sing in the choir and me play violin! It was so exciting to see her there and she seemed to really like it! She stayed for Relief Society and even the Linger Longer afterwards. :) I love when the people we invite to church actually come.

This week we went on Exchanges with the Sisters out in Invermere, British Columbia. SO FUN. They are so great! There's Sister Matheson from Salt Lake City, UT and Sister Durrant from Cedar Hills, UT. And they're a blast ha there wasn't a dull moment in the whole 24 hours. I got to go with Sister Matheson again, we've both been in our areas for a long time so this was like our 4th exchange with each other. But it's all good because she's amazing. We had a lot of fun tracting, walking, and talking. While I was there we taught these 2 girls that were interested in meeting with the missionaries to learn more about religion. So we met them at Tim Hortons, and taught them the Restoration. Most intense lesson of my whole mission! It was a pretty thick discussion, and they had SO many questions! They're both awesome Christian women who really know their stuff and their Bible. It was probably my favorite lesson that I've had my whole mission, really put me and my faith to the test. In the end I when we were getting off topic and caught up on small details I was just like "Look, none of this really matters. But I know that what we've taught is true." And I ended up telling them my conversion story, even down to the details of going on the Pioneer Trek. ;) Long story short,  They agreed to meet with us again in the end of it and to read and pray. To really try and see. After the lesson me and Matheson were walking to the car and just looked at each other and smiled. It's so great to know that the Gospel is true, that Christs Church really is restored. That its all real. I love this Gospel so much! And I love trying to share it with others!

Friday we decided to go up to the Village of Lake Louise cause it had been fo'eva since we had made it up there. LL is about an hour away so we choose very carefully and methodically when we go. WE have an investigator out there, Rick. Who me and Sister Jones found tracting way back when in October. Such a sick guy. Loves Christ and wants to follow him so much. But any who, his days off are wednesday and thursday usually, but we had things going on but figured we'd come out to LL anyways and maybe catch up with some other contacts. We were knocking on doors on his street and we heard a car pull up beside us. "Hey girls! How's it going!?" It was HIM. Work had conveniently given him the day OFF. :O So I was like".....hey! We're on our way to see you! Have time for a chat!" And we got to teach him! First time since Sister Shumway and I taught him back in November! MIRACLE. Committed him to read and pray about the Book of Mormon, following up next week. So sick.

Afterwards since it decided to of course snow while we were walking, me and Murph had a little photoshoot as we made our way back to the car.

We volunteered at the Canmore Kid n Mutt Races this week for the town of Canmore. SO FREAKING FUNNY. hahah enjoy!

We had another visit with our friend Shirley this week! She's doing awesome! I love sitting and talking with her, such an intelligent woman.


This week our recent convert/adopted Grandfather David received the Aaronic Priesthood!!!

We're so proud of him! The WHOLE BRANCH family was there to see it happen! AND AND AND! He wore the tie that we bought him!! I have LOVE LOVE loved watching the change and progression of Brother Becker. He has truly let Christ into his life and isn't looking back!

Welp, not much else to say! We went hiking this morning!! In Banff with the Zone Leaders, Mandarin Elders and a Sister from Calgary! We hiked Tunnel Mountain. WAY slick in spots ha but SO FUN here's some fun pictures!!

FEBRUARY ......what?!

Welp, another month GONE! Time needs to definitely slow its self down a bit. I cannot believe how fast its slipping through our fingers. This week literally felt like a blink, a real quick blink ha




This is the Three Sisters peak trio that I see everyday outside our house. I LOVE THE MOUNTAINS.

Here's what happened this week! :)

On Monday it was 10 C outside. Which is about 52F ! I know! Ha it was glorious, yknow I've been in Canada a long time when a Vega$ Girl says 52 is warm. Ha we were so excited that we had a BBQ that night with our member! She's the greatest. We ended the night with a MIRACLE.

Here's what happened;

We drove over to see some of our potential investigators in Canmore. They live across the hall from one another, so we figured our chances were pretty high to catch one of them. Walk in the building knock on the first door, dogs go nuts, no answer :( So we turn around and knock on the other door, dog goes nuts, someone answers :) So we're standing there talking with her about church and about the gospel for quite some time and just as we're ending our conversation, our other contact comes fumbling through the door with a TON of groceries. So of course we help her after convincing her to let us help her carry in a car full of stuff, and we're in her kitchen helping her put everything away and she totally apologized for not talking to us recently and said "I hope you girls know that the doors not closed for you two, I just have to figure some things out first" I was like :O oh.... :D hahha so that's good! Totally Heavenly Fathers hand lining everything up just so perfectly!


This is Banff on a typical Monday night:

Tuesday was...........................ha well, Tuesday I was sick. From early morning until early morning the next day. Like I literally thought I was going to die, obviously! Ha but I'm typing this so its proof and that I'm okay ha. But I'll tell you how much I love the Priesthood! Tuesday I spent all day laying down; couch, bed, floor, anywhere. We had Zone conference the next day and I really kinda needed to be alive, and in Calgary. So I got myself together and hopped in the car with Sister Murphy and took off for Calgary. And I was just feeling worse and worse. We were spending the night with the 17th sisters and I asked Sister Murphy if she could ask our District Leader Elder Hill to come give me a blessing. I fell asleep and then the next thing I knew they were there, and my fever was raging. Elder Hill and Elder Fekete gave me a blessing of healing and comfort and man oh man did I need to hear those comforting words. :) I quickly fell asleep again and then, like clock work, the next morning my fever broke and I WAS FINE. Ha felt like nothing had ever happened! I love the power of the priesthood so much and definitely have gained such a strong testimony of it out here.

Welp, Wednesday was zone conference, and it was GLORIOUS. I love just being around other missionaries and hearing from our mission president. Everything about it is just so great. We spent the whole day in Calgary learning and growing! Then later that night after we had driven back home we had an awesome lesson with our recent convert David! Who's just doing amazing! So blessed to know him holy cow. 

The rest of the week just flew on by! But know that it was good! Take my word for it, the Lord is hastening his work for sure! 

Me and Sister Murphy carried a bed frame, a box spring and a mattress down these stairs. Many prayers were answered that hour hahaha. We love service though! You know what King Benjamin says in the Book of Mormon, " 17 And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learnwisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service ofyour fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God."

Ope, y'know just walking in our area trying to find our friend in the woods haha, you'd be surprised how many times I've used back woods trails as my main way of transportation out here. So beautiful. How'd we get so blessed to live on this Earth? ;)

Ice AGE 16

Hello my beautiful family and friends! Happy Monday! It must be a miracle, its +10 degrees celsius out side and I feel like I've died and gone to heaven ha. It feels so much like spring outside right now! Man I've missed me some sunshine and warmth!

Alright alright alright alright! How was the week you ask!? Welp, lemme just tell you!

Instead of boring you with the day by day thing I'm just going to start to tell you the really cool things that have been happening ha.

David is doing awesome and is soaking up so much knowledge. The Banff Branch is so lucky to have him! :) We've been teaching him lessons from the Gospel Principles manual. And it has been so fun. I've found that I've been learning a lot as well! David also took us out to dinner this week at Boston Pizza. Only a member a week and he's already feeding the missionaries! Such a great guy. :D

We picked up 2 new investigators in Canmore this week! So that's wayyyyyy exciting for us! We're hoping to teach them more this week. Both of them me and Sister Jones found one night in October when we were out knocking on doors and giving out copies of the Book of Mormon. And we've just been checking up on them every since and this week they agreed to learn more! So fun!

I went to Cochrane this week on exchanges with Sister Schell from Huntington Beach, California and had a blast. That girl has got to be one of the funniest people I've ever met. We had a great time trying to contact people and doing service. We even found this sweet elephant while tracting! haha. I had to.  

 

Saturday we volunteered at the Banff-Lake Louise Snow Days Ice Magic Festival! ALL DAY. And it was so fun! Me and Murphy worked at the Little Chippers event down in the Village of Lake Louise. Kids, for free, were able to try doing some ice carving of their own on little ice blocks. It was so fun to see what they would come up with. And I swear almost 1 out of 4 people were like, "hmmmm I'm gonna make a heart" LOVE IS IN THE AIR! Ha really though. By the end of the day we were straight exhausted but it was so much fun we didnt care. I love doing service in the community. And it was sweet because I was able to see a lot of the people that we've tracted into up there and have good talks with them.  

 

 

That's pretty much all for this week folks! I love and miss you so so so so much. I hit my 16 month mark yesterday and I cannot believe it. I still feel like I just left the MTC. I guess time flies when you're having fun?

I know that this is where I need to be. I know this gospel is true and I get so happy when I get to share it with those around me! Heavenly Father loves you! And knows you! You got this!

Hello friends and family! Happy middle of January? Ha things are going good up here in Canmore!

Sorry that I've kinda dropped the ball with the whole blog thing lately :(

Here's last weeks updates!

Monday:

It was "Miracle Monday." So we started out the day with some good ol' tracting (door knocking) in Canmore. We were out for probably an hour and our faces froze ha, gotta love Canada. So we walked home to pack our bags before we drove in to Calgary to spend some time with the 17th ward sisters, Estrada and Wagstaff. We went on little mini split and I was with Sister Estrada, I just love that little sister. She's been out on her mission as long as I  have and is from the Philippines!  It's so funny whenever we stand by each other because I'm 5'9" and she probably comes to my hip. But she has a heart bigger than a dinosaur I swear. I have never met someone so charitable. I love spending time with her because she is just so bold and loving to everyone she meets. I definitely have learned so much from her, such a great missionary.

     We then had dinner with our awesome branch mission leader and his wife, the Whitneys, in Calgary. AND THEN, It was my turn to go around with Sister Wagstaff. She's pretty much one of the funniest people I have ever met and is from Provo, Utah. We just did some contacting over by their apartment.

Tuesday: PDAY PDAY PDAY! The whole zone got together for our last Pday all together and went Canadian Bowling in Cochrane. We had A TON of fun, ha I had only been american bowling so when I got there I was totally thrown off, it's way fun though and kind of easier! They use a smaller ball and smaller pins! So you don't feel like your arms going to come out of socket when you try to roll the ball that weighs more than a large dog.

Afterwards we headed back into Calgary and had dinner with some of our Calgary members, the Rawlings. I just love them. :) And we taught them about online proselyting! 

Wednesday:

Wednesday we started out in Banff walking around and doing some street contacting. Then went back to Canmore and started to look around our area for some more volunteer opportunities. AND we found one, THAT DAY. Ha me and Sister Jones used to volunteer at a thrift store in Canmore awhile back so we stopped by to see if they were still looking for help, and they were! Ha so we helped out there for awhile. We then went to a small town/village thing called Dead Man's Flat and did some tracting. Ha we found the ONLY residential area and knocked on every door! Out of 43 only 8 answered and only 2 took a Book of Mormon. Sometimes when you look at the numbers it can be discouraging, but the way I see it, we potentially brought 2 more people closer to Christ that day :)

 

I saw this house and just couldn't resist. Sadly no one was home :(

 We also taught our recent convert David about our loving Heavenly Father, and also our friend Derick about the power of fasting and paying a full tithe. Awesome lessons, I love those two.

Thursday!  Transfer day! Me and Sister Murphy are staying together another transfer but we needed to take Sister Estrada in for the Farewell Fireside that night so we got to drive into Calgary! We dropped off Sister Estrada and kidnapped Sister Wagstaff for the night. Mwuahahaha! Ha actually we were only with eachother for maybe 3 hours but hey it was fun anyways. We then got to drive all the way back into the Center of Calgary to pick her back up and while we there I got to see some of my favorite people from my favorite areas around the mission saying goodbye to some other missionaries. Gave me a preview as to what is going to happen in about 11 weeks. :( 

Friday! Was our weekly planning day, and we did some contacting out in Three Sisters by Canmore.

Saturday was our Lake Louise day, we drove all the way up and did some follow up on some people me and Sister Jones had given Book of Mormons to. And one was still way interested in learning! Its just hard for us to catch him when hes not working, one of these days though ha. We saw David again that night and went over how all of us are a part of a big Heavenly Family. Thats why we refer to each other as Brother and Sister. 

Sunday was fun! There were A TON of visitors at church, we even had to break out the folding chairs, that never happens!

Overall, the week was just great! AS USUAL. I LOVE BEING A SISTER MISSIONARY!
